Phyllis J. Schaefer

Born July 23, 1928, in Harrold, South Dakota, to Daniel and Ethel Heintz, Phyllis J. Schaefer passed away Sunday, April 4, 2021 in Spokane Valley, Wash.

Married to LeRoy Schaefer in 1946 in a double wedding with their good friends, Phyllis's primary occupation throughout life was in Civil Service working as a postal worker. Phyllis was the happiest when she was cleaning and organizing. The home was spotless with each drawer containing folded and ironed articles of clothing and household materials. Family and friends were her special favorites, and she loved traveling home to South Dakota to see her many siblings, their children and staying in touch with friends along the way. Living in a small community Phyllis found herself involved in just about everything. From volunteering in the basketball tournaments, to baking goodies for bake sales when needed, Phyllis with her contagious laugh was always there to help.

Phyllis is survived by one daughter Pamela (George); one sister Beverly (Herman); three grandchildren Kurt (Camille), Jill(Matt), Craig(Carly) and seven great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband Leroy in 2009; son Terry in 2018; seven brothers Ed, Irvin, Wilmer, Woodrow, Kenneth, Pete, and Michael and one sister Vivian.

The funeral mass is scheduled for 11:00 a.m., Tuesday April 27, 2021, at St. John Vianney Catholic Church, 503 North Walnut Rd., Spokane Valley, WA. 99206. The family requests Memorial donations be gifted to St. Jude's Hospital. To leave condolences for the family, visit http://www.hennesseyvalley.com.
