Tekoa-Rosalia golf finishes first match

Ava Rambo led with the best score

TEKOA – Timberwolves golf joined seven teams in Wilbur for their first match of the stunted season on April 15.

"It was the first night out for the entire team ... we got to take all eight kids," said Assistant Coach Mark Heid.

Tekoa-Rosalia-Liberty joined seven teams including Colfax, Davenport, Lind-Ritzville, Northwest Christian, and Wilbur-Creston for the first match on the Big Bend Golf Country Club in Wilbur.

It is a par 36 9-hole course stretching 6,200 yards.

The Timberwolves have eight players with five from Tekoa and three from Liberty. Returning to the team this year is Coach Angie Rambo's niece Ava Rambo, who went to the state tournament in 2019 as a sophomore. Junior Josh Bonham is back and Kellen Tee, from Liberty, returns.

"Maddie Haas is a freshman from Liberty that looked good from the start," said Heid.

Ava Rambo had a +51 for the day and Bonham was a +53 at the match.

The team practices in Tekoa but do not have access to a driving range. The first match was spent by the coaches walking with their team and teaching the players about the game.

"We worked a lot on fundamentals and etiquette," Heid said.
