Barbara Lucille Strevy, 76, of Yuma Ariz, passed away on April 6, 2021, from colon cancer at the Yuma Regional Medical Center.
Barb was born in Spokane, Wash., on February 28, 1945, to Alex and Clara Gies. She is survived by her husband of 54 years Richard Strevy of Colfax, Wash., currently Yuma, Ariz .; their two children, Chad (Melanie) Strevy of Moses Lake, Wash., and Shauna (Eric) Brown of Edgewood, Wash., and their four grandchildren, Jacob and Andrew Strevy and Abigail and Hannah Brown.
Barb lived in Colfax, Wash., for 50 years where she raised her family and worked for many years developing photos for the Colfax Gazette before working for the Colfax School District as a P.E. aide and secretary for 26 years. In their first motorhome trip after retirement, Barb and Richard traveled across the United States putting 17,000 miles on the trip. They traveled for seven months leaving Colfax, Wash., and going as far as Prince Edwards Island then traveling down to Florida and back across the U.S. Barb loved traveling with her husband, and making friends along the way. Barb loved the beach and the Pacific Ocean. Barb and her husband volunteered for the State of Washington at Cape Disappointment State Park for seven summers — often working at the North Head Lighthouse giving tours. They loved when their kids and grandkids would come to the beach and visit. During the winter months, they settled in Yuma, Ariz., where they enjoyed riding out in the desert with their Razor club where they made many wonderful friends that have become family.
Barb was an amazing wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and friend who will be missed deeply. At this time no service has been planned, but the family hopes to celebrate her life with family and friends later this year in Washington state.
In lieu of flowers, please donate to the American Cancer Society in her honor.
