Colfax Bulldogs volleyball suffers first loss

Colfax Bulldogs volleyball now stands 9-1

CLARKSTON — The Colfax High School volleyball team took its first loss March 20 at Clarkston High School.

Playing without Asher Cai, the Bulldogs were swept (20-25, 17-25, 17-25).

"They were a good team," said Colfax Coach Brandy Brown. "We haven't faced a challenge like that this season. It was good for us."

Junior setter Justice Brown had 19 assists in the match while Sophie Klaveano got 10 kills and four aces. Abree Aune added 13 digs.

Against Davenport at home on March 18, Colfax won in three (25-12, 25-4, 25-22) as Anni Cox delivered seven digs and 10 aces.

Two days earlier, at Jenkins High School (Chewelah), Colfax won in three (25-11, 25-14, 25-22). Brown had 15 assists, Perry Imler 10 kills, Cox 14 digs and Kleaveano seven aces.

Colfax was set to play next on Tuesday night at Liberty, for a showdown between the two teams both 9-0 in the league.

A Thursday home match follows. It's the Bulldogs' last of the regular season before a quick series to decide a league champion. No district or state playoffs will be held this year.

"It's been a good season so far, it's just sad that we don't get a state tournament, but at least we've been able to play," said Brown.
