Sign-ups are underway for Pullman Civic Theatre

PULLMAN — Pullman Civic Theatre (PCT) hosted its first “Carpe Diem,” a one-day theatre festival, last year and this year it’s back virtually.

“Have you been missing that creative bug?” asks Aryn Allen, PCT production manager. “Need a break from the world? Come to PCT’s first virtual theatre festival.”

On March 27, actors, writers, and directors will gather virtually to start the day.

Directors will select actors who have auditioned via http://www.pullmancivictheatre.org, and writers will be given their challenges to incorporate into their scripts. Challenges from the previous year included having items such as a spatula, a trophy, or an apron somewhere in the performance.

After the first meeting, the writers will have the rest of the morning to come up with an original one act play that includes the challenges and accommodates the actors the directors have chosen. Then, after lunch, the directors and actors take over and rehearse.

Finally in the early evening, it is to time to perform virtually. Each director will record their actors in a Zoom performance that will be uploaded to PCT’s YouTube page that night.

“In 2020, when the world was fighting the COVID pandemic, we were unable to produce live shows,” said Kristin Lincoln, artistic director. “But we here at PCT are storytellers. And we just couldn’t stop telling stories!”

The audition form can found online at pullmancivictheatre.org/virtualpct.
