Sentence in attempted church arson

ROSALIA — Samuel Owens, 45, of Rosalia, pleaded guilty Feb. 12 in Whitman County Superior Court to felony second degree attempted arson, according to a report by Pullman Radio News.

Owens was accused of trying to burn down Community Baptist Church in Rosalia. He was sentenced to five months in jail by Judge Gary Libey.

Owens was initially charged with first degree attempted arson. He was arrested last November by Whitman County Sheriff’s deputies after the incident at the church.
