Donald Franklin

Donald Howard Franklin, Colfax resident, passed away January 8, 2021, at Sacred Heart Hospital in Spokane from complications caused by COVID-19. He was 63. The family will plan services at a later date.

Don was born June 11, 1957, in Chattanooga, Tenn., to Donald, Sr. and Agnes Witt Franklin. He was the middle child of three, with an older sister and younger brother. He grew up in Huntsville, Alabama and attended school there. He loved to play in the yard with his sister and brother or go fishing with his dad. The family often made trips to an aunt and uncles farm and he enjoyed his time outdoors there as well.

He enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps and served for a brief time before being honorably discharged. Don moved to California where he worked in various plumbing jobs and construction jobs. He loved the ocean and enjoyed going to the beach. Don moved to Southern Idaho for a time and back to California before finally moving to Albion, Washington, in 1993 at the urging of a family friend.

He worked for the Colfax Grange Supply doing small engine repair. Don met Delta Lohr of Colfax and they were married on October 21, 1993. They made their home in Colfax. He worked for Bloem's in Pullman doing tile work and for Carlson's Plumbing and S & S Construction before a work injury in 1998 caused him to become disabled. He liked spending time at home with Delta or out for a ride on his Harley. He also liked to bowl or cook on the grill; although in recent years it seems Delta did more of the cooking.

He is survived by his wife, Delta, at their home in Colfax; his four children, Angela Dawn Rogers of Hazel Green, Alabama, Joshua Lee Franklin, Las Angeles, Calif., Angela Nicole Franklin, Las Vegas, Nevada, and Travis Wayne Franklin of Mountain Home, Idaho; his sister, Debbie Franklin Thornton of Huntsville, Alabama; and 13 grandchildren. Don is also survived by several nieces and nephews, and extended family. He was proud of all of his family. Don was preceded in death by his brother, David, and by his parents.
