No Christmas in the Stone Church

PINE CITY - The annual Christmas in the Stone Church will not take place this year due to the Babb Fire that destroyed the historic structure Sept. 7.

Pine City lost a number of historic homes as well as the Stone Church.

The building was built in 1902 by A.J. Smith and was the Smith Mercantile Store.

In 1914, the building was converted to Church of Christ. It was an active church until the 1960s.

The remaining members of the congregation gifted it to the Pine City Historical Society in 1998. The pews and other artifacts from the building were either sold or given away prior to the H...
