Voters approve one and reject one

FARMINGTON — Town voters approved one ballot measure but rejected another in the Nov. 3 general election.

Proposition No. 1 authorized the town to collect $8,000 in 2021 for use in 2022 for street repair, maintenance and improvement. It passed with 65.22% approval.

Levy’s require a 60% supermajority to pass.

Proposition No. 2 went the other way for the town’s 92 voters.

It sought to collect $15,000 to finance the current expense fund in 2022.

It was supported by 51.09% of voters, but fell short of the supermajority required under state law.

Town officials have until Dec. 11 to get the failed measure on the February special election ballot.
