Richard Melhus

Richard (Dick) Andrew Melhus, retired Rosalia area farmer, passed away at his home on Oct. 25, 2020, with his sister, Marian Nelson, his son, Chris and his wife, Kelli and his two grandsons, Ethan and Jacob by his side.

He was born on Oct. 28,1944, to Andrew & Dolly Melhus. Dick graduated from Rosalia High School & then attended WSU, earning his Bachelors degree in Business Administration. After graduating, he enlisted in the US Army, serving as an armorer, and attaining the rank of Sergeant. He returned home to Rosalia and worked in the Ag Chemical Business as well as taking over the family farm in 1978, which he operated until his retirement.

He was a long time member & two time chief of the Rosalia Fire Department, a life member of the Rosalia & Malden-Pine City Gun Club, an avid hunter & fisherman and a proud grandpa of Ethan & Jacob. He is preceded in death by his parents, Andrew & Dolly and his daughter, Stephanie.

Memorial gifts may be made to either the Rosalia or St. John Fire Departments or the Ryan Willson Fund at the St, John Gun Club.

A service will be held at a later date.
