Candidate, issues forums set
October 8, 2020
PULLMAN — Two candidate forums are planned for Whitman County Commissioner and State Representative candidates and an issues forum. The forums are being hosted by the League of Women Voters of Pullman with Pullman Chamber of Commerce as co-sponsor.
The issues forum is set for Monday, Oct. 12 at 7 p.m.
Senate Joint Resolution 8212 is a constitutional amendment on investment of public funds. Referendum 90 addressed Senate Bill 5395 (ESSB5395) regarding comprehensive sexual health education for all students unless a parent requests that his/her student be excused. In addition, there will be four Advisory Measures on the ballot, but the voting results will have no effect on the legislation as passed.
No questions will be taken during the event. Questions can be submitted in advance of the forum at [email protected] Anyone sending in a question should include the phrase “issue question” in the subject line of the email.
The county commissioner candidate forum is set for Thursday, Oct. 15, at 6:30 p.m. Candidates for the position are incumbent Dean Kinzer and challenger Tom Handy.
Ninth District State Representative candidate forum is set for Saturday, Oct. 17, at 3:30 p.m. Candidates for the position are incumbent Mary Dye of Pomeroy and challenger Brett Borden of Pullman.
All forums are being hosted via zoom platform. The Zoom address for the forum will be posted on the league’s website at lwvpullman.org or a link can be accessed via the Pullman Chamber of Commerce calendar of events.
