Respond to LD Johnson road fires

October 1, 2020

Fire units responded September 29 and September 30 to opposite ends of LD Johnson Road, Rosalia, for reports of fire.

A farm service vehicle for Schmitz Farms was claimed Wednesday afternoon. While the cause is uncertain, the fire is believed to be ignited by an electrical issue. According to Rosalia Fire Fighter Laura Lautenslager, the engine compartment and cab were damaged by the fire, but items in the back, including a fuel tank, did not burn. The drive was not injured in the fire. One truck from Rosalia Fire Department and one from Fire District 10 out of Oakesdale responded.

The fire reported as a wildfire on the Whitman County Sheriff’s log Tuesday afternoon on LD Johnson Road was a controlled burn.
