Two summoned for driving, drug charges

COLFAX—A man and woman from Idaho have been summoned for preliminary hearings Oct. 9 after a traffic stop resulted in the alleged discovery of methamphetamine.

According to the police report, Whitman County Sheriff’s Deputy Tyler Langerveld was on patrol Aug. 29 when he pulled over a silver van near the Red Wolf Bridge for no license plate. The driver, Taylorlee Wyatt, and passenger, Jaleel Black, were both run through Whitcom. Wyatt did not have a driver’s license and Black’s license was suspended. The deputy was told Black had permission to use the vehicle and Black claimed he did not know Wyatt did not have a license while Wyatt stated he did know, according to the report.

Black was placed under arrest for allowing an unauthorized person to drive. Wyatt was place under arrest for driving without a valid license.

According to the report, Deputy Langerveld noticed a bulge in Black’s sock which turned out to be bags with a white crystal residue in them. During a search of the vehicle, methamphetamine was allegedly discovered in Wyatt’s purse.

Both subjects were released at the scene and deputies arranged for someone to pick them up.
