Workers from M.A. DeAtley of Clarkston lay down thick asphalt south of Colfax last week.

COLFAX-More than three-fourths of the paving was completed last week on Almota Road Phase Four re-construction south of Colfax. The mainline asphalt, including approaches and aprons, was expected to be done Wednesday, leaving two more weeks of shoulder rock, guardrail and clean-up.

"We're making really good progress," said Mark Storey, Public Works director.

The ahead of schedule project is expected to be done in mid-September.

Almota Four spans 3.5 miles between Union Flat Creek and Highway 194 by Onecho Bible Church, widening the road from 28 to 34 feet. The work is part of a four-phase, 12-mile reconstruction begun in 2009.
