'Dangerous heat' through Friday

The National Weather Service has upgraded its heat advisory for Whitman County Tuesday to red through Friday.

Highs Friday are forecast for the upper 90s with Thursday breaking the 100 mark.

According to NWS, potential for critical fire weather conditions Thursday and Friday with thunderstorms possible Thursday along with near record heat. Friday is predicted to continue very hot and breezy to windy conditions. Breezy conditions could create issues to new or existing fires.

Seasonable temperatures are expected to return this weekend and early next week.

NWS advises citizens to drink more water, dress for the heat, cancel strenuous outdoor activities between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m., plan on taking frequent breaks in the shade if you must be outdoors and to have a plan to keep you, your family and pets cool.
