MRW building work bid approved

COLFAX – Whitman County Commissioners approved Monday a bid of $812,278 from Mangum Construction of Clarkston for remodeling and expansion at the county's moderate risk waste building at the landfill south of Colfax.

Commissioners also approved – in a separate, non-sealed bid process from the county's small works roster – Greg's Electric of Colfax for $120,313 to do the electrical work inside the facility, plus some external. The county took in five competitive quotes.

For the main work, sealed bids were previously received from Associate Construction of Spokane, Halme Builders of Davenport and Kenaston Construction from Lewiston.

The project is expected to start by August with a target date of completion around Thanksgiving.

The moderate waste building (MRW) is for household hazardous waste, including paint, pesticides, certain household cleaners, batteries and more.
