Clarification on Port commissioner seat position

Appointee to fill Love's term will be up for re-election next year

The Port of Whitman County issued a clarification June 29 on the process to fill the vacancy after the resignation of Commissioner John Love.

The Port will first appoint someone within 90 days to take Love's seat. A special election will be held Nov. 2021, for which the appointee will need to run in an open election to retain the seat. The winner of the election will serve out the remainder of Love's term, ending in 2025.
