Innovia funds support county groups

WHITMAN COUNTY – Entities in Whitman County received more than $15,000 from the COVID-19 Community Response and Recovery Funds for Eastern Washington and North Idaho.

The grants are part of $746,012 awarded to 165 organizations in Eastern

Whitman County Library åwas awarded $3,450 to provide PPE for library staff.

The Council on Aging and Human Services received $4,800 for Rosauer gift cards for 12 small food pantries to fill gaps in supplies.

Community Action Center in Pullman received $10,000 for emergency housing assistance and eviction prevention.

A $20,000 grant was award for economic development in Whitman and Latah counties to provide support for small businesses.

This is the second round of grants from the Response and Recovery Funds and was directed to nonprofit and grassroots organizations, as well as tribal entities, schools and other government agencies, that are on the front lines of the COVID-19 response and recovery efforts. Grants focused on childcare and youth, food assistance needs, support for immigrant and refugee communities, mental health resources and small business support.

The COVID-19 Response and Recovery Funds are hosted at Innovia Foundation in partnership with Empire Health Foundation and Spokane County United Way in Eastern Washington, and Equinox Foundation and Avista Foundation in North Idaho.
