19th COVID-19 case
May 21, 2020
COLFAX - Whitman County received another positive COVID-19 result May 20, bringing the county total to 19, three of which have been in the past week.
The new case is a male in the 20 to 39 age range. He is stable and isolating at home. All of the newer cases have been in the same age range.
Pubic Health now posts a graphic on its COVID-19 web page showing the risk of spread. Similar to the fire danger dials, the graphic includes green-low, yellow-limited, orange-moderate and red-high zones. To be in the green, the county would need no community spread in the last 72 hours and no more than one non-community acquired case per day.
The graphic is the county's response to the Governor’s requirement there be an assessment tool to allow broader medical and dental treatment.
The dial is currently set to yellow-limited.
Based on the criteria established, Whitman County has been in the green and yellow categories since the beginning of the pandemic, according to Public Health Director Troy Henderson. If the county ever moved into the orange or red, the Board of Health would be notified.
