Order violation arrest

COLFAX – Robert Middleton, 51, Malden, was booked into Whitman County Jail April 29 for violation of a protection order and tampering with a witness.

According to the arrest report, the Whitman County Sheriff's Office responded to the call of order violation after Robert Middleton allegedly refused to leave the home of his daughter Nicole Lewis after Rachel Middleton arrived to take her to an appointment. Rachel Middleton has a protection order prohibiting Robert Middleton from being around her. Per the order, Robert Middleton is not to knowingly come or remain within 1,000 feet of Rachel Middleton.

When officers arrived at Robert Middleton's home to arrest him for the violation, he was permitted to go into the home for his wallet and medications. While inside, he allegedly called his daughter about the situation. Officer Jim Pelissier advised him to hang up as that was tampering and intimidating a witness.

Robert Middleton was booked into the jail and allowed pre-trial release on his own recognizance.
