Traffic stop nets heroin, meth

COLFAX–Matthew Tournay, 38, of Wenatchee, was booked for possession of methamphetamine and possession of heroin Friday, April 24, at Cougar Foodmart.

According to the arrest report, Sgt. Keith Cooper approached the vehicle Tournay was driving after he had been sitting at the gas pump for about 30 minutes. Sgt. Cooper allegedly observed Tournay displaying signs of drug use including shakes, sweating profusely and dazed look.

When questioned about using drugs, Tournay initially denied any recent use or that he was high. Sgt. Cooper observed a syringe needle at Tournay's feet and the drug dog was barking. Tournay handed Sgt. Cooper a sunglasses case which contained three spoons, two with heroin residue, as well as another needle and water. Sgt. Cooper also saw a rubber container in Tournay's shirt pocket which tested positively for heroin.

Tournay was arrested and gave Sgt. Cooper permission to search the car. During the search Sgt. Cooper located another needle and a black scale with methamphetamine and heroin residue.
