Tina Scholz resigns after 26 years teaching in Colfax

A routine item for required approval on the March 12 Colfax School Board agenda was the resignation of Tina Scholz.

“Can we not approve a resignation?”asked board member Terry Huber.

Scholz had announced earlier she will not sign a new teaching contract for next fall, after 26 years in the district, citing health reasons.

“My body is no longer able to keep up with the stress and rigor of the classroom due to my multiple sclerosis,”she wrote in a letter to District Superintendent Jerry Pugh.

Her career includes 25 years as high school yearbook advisor and five years for Jennings Elementary K-8 yearbook. She also began and acted as advisor for the Colfax FBLA chapter for 10 years (the club appearing at state each year with trips to nationals twice).

“I have passionately enjoyed my 26 years at Colfax Junior-Senior High,” Scholz wrote.

She also coached high school and junior high volleyball with Sue Doering from 1991-98. She began teaching in Colfax in 1995.
