TRAFFIC STOP YIELDS GUNS, DRUGS

A Lewiston man, Taylor Forsman, 28, was booked into Whitman County Jail yesterday after the discovery of two guns, heroin and methamphetamine when he was stopped for speeding in the south end of Colfax.

According to the police report by Deputy Cory Alcantar, he initially pulled Forsman over for driving 35 miles per hour in a 25 miles per hour zone. When Alcantar spoke to him, Forsman informed the deputy he had a pistol between the front seat and center console and an AR-15 in the back seat. Forsman admitted he did not have a concealed pistol license.

When Forsman was being frisked, he was discovered to be in possession of brass knuckles and a tin foil packet with residue Forsman said was heroin he had used that morning.

The passenger in the car, Hannah Barnes, admitted to using meth and had a kit for injecting in Forsman's vehicle.

After a warrant to search the car was obtained, deputies seized a Glock pistol, AR-15 and methamphetamine.

Forsman was released on his own recognizance. Formal charges had not been filed as of press time.
