Coulees, canyons and valleys presentation in St. John

Whitman County Library and Ice Age Floods Institute Palouse Falls Chapter presents “Coulees and Canyons and Valleys…Oh My!” on Wednesday, March 11, at 1 p.m. at the St. John Library. This presentation is free and open to the public.

Chapter President Lloyd Stoess is presenting an amateur geomorphologist’s search for the true meaning of coulee. This somewhat tongue-in-cheek presentation will look at why geologists and geomorphologists all know a coulee when they see it, but have widely different ideas on what actually defines it. Stoess, an expert on local geology, will remain after the program to answer questions.

For more information, visit the Palouse Falls Chapter’s website at iafi.org or call Lloyd Stoess at 509-954-3927.

The St. John Library is open Monday and Friday 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. and 2 – 5 p.m., and Wednesday from 2:30 – 6:30 p.m.
