The current Colfax Golf Course clubhouse capacity is 100 people. Planning is underway to build a bigger clubhouse.
This past year Colfax Golf Course held the NCAA Western Regional cross country meet. The golf course also hosts high school cross country meets throughout the fall.
On Monday, Whitman County Commissioners approved the extension of .09 funding for the construction of the event center at the Colfax Golf Course.
The funding was extended to Dec. 31, 2020.
The county commissioners originally granted $70,000 of .09 funds to the Colfax Golf Course in April 2019.
According to Colfax Golf Course, planning is underway to put in a bigger clubhouse to accommodate golfers and outside events throughout the year.
The current facility has capacity for 100 people, but it was previously reported by the Gazette that the golf course often receives requests for larger venues.
This past year the Colfax Golf Course hosted multiple events, including the NCAA Western Regional cross country meet. This race brought in approximately 441 athletes and a large crowd of family and friends.
The golf course also holds high school cross country meets in the fall and different golf tournaments throughout the year.
The .09 funds are generated from a sales and use tax option in the county. The funds are intended to be used for public economic development projects.
