Commissioners open truck bid

Whitman County commissioners opened a $124,886 bid for a new plow truck/dump truck chassis for the Public Works department Tuesday.

The single bid came from Freightliner Northwest of Spokane.

Public Works will now evaluate the bid for later recommendation to commissioners for approval.

Mark Storey, Public Works director, noted that a dump-body will need to be bought separately for the chassis, among other features. Final cost estimate for the fully-equipped truck will be between $180,000-$200,000....
