Would you like a pearl?

Pearls are a soft gem, the birthstone for the month of June and are believed to bring good luck and happiness. Depending on the color, pearls can have all sorts of meanings; romance for pink pearls, beauty for blue pearls and luck for black pearls, to name a few.

Pearls are made by oysters and other bivalve mollusks out of nacre, the same substance that creates the mother-of-pearl effect on the inside of their shell, to sooth irritants such as sand that gets caught in the little guy's mantle.
