Kathleen Bafus

Kathleen Joy Bafus, 76, passed away into the heavenly realm on January 16, 2020, in Spokane, Wash., due to cardiac issues.

She was born to Elmer and Leta (Schmick) Bafus on November 22, 1943, in Colfax, Wash. Having spent her entire life on the farm near Endicott, she attended the Endicott Elementary and high schools and graduated in 1963. She was also a member of the Endicott Congregational Church.

Kathy possessed a love for animals, especially cats and dogs. Whenever a dog departed, she had a difficult time waiting for its replacement. She was known for taking walks to town. The five-mile round trip, to and from Endicott, was a time to be accompanied by her beloved canine friend, "Brownie."

Kathy enjoyed traveling to "get away." This included trips to San Diego and Nevada. However, in recent years, she enjoyed the fellowship of her friends of Endicott meeting at "Jenny's" (the store). Her cousin, Jerine Grey, graciously facilitated in that regard. Kathy was content to live the rural life and found it satisfying.

She was preceded in death by her father and mother. She is survived by her brothers, Gerald (Madelyn) of Spokane, and Bob (Pamela) from Redmond, Wash. Also, two nieces, Victoria and Amanda; as well as nephew, Chris, all from Spokane. A maternal uncle, Peter Schmick, resides near Cheney, Wash.

Funeral services will be Thursday, January 23, 2020, at 11 a.m., at Bruning Funeral Home. Burial will follow at the Endicott Cemetery. The family suggest memorial gifts to the Endicott Cemetery or to the Latah County Humane Society. On-line guest book is at http://www.bruningfuneralhome.com.
