Eva Aeschliman

Eva Mae Yocum Aeschliman was born June 3, 1928, in Radium, Kan. She moved to Pasadena, Calif., when she was seven. She received her B.A. and her R.N. from the University of Southern California, and was a nurse and nurse instructor at the Los Angeles County General Hospital.

She married Donald Aeschliman of Colfax, in 1951, and worked as a missionary in the Republic of South Africa from 1954 until 1999. Initially, she served as a nurse in Swaziland and later taught at the Cape Evangelical Bible Institute in Cape Town. She was also active in leadership with the Christian Woman's Club in South Africa and Zimbabwe.

After retiring from mission work, she and Don relocated to the family farm in Onecho. She headed up the Open Door Pregnancy Center in Moscow, Idaho, for six years, in addition to teaching women's Bible studies in Colfax and serving as a chaplain at the Colfax Hospital. She was a member of the Colfax chapter of PEO.

She was preceded in death by her sister, five brothers, and her husband, Don. She is mourned by her five children, Gregory (Ruth) Aeschliman of Woodinville, Wash .; Vonnie (Tom) Conrad of Colfax, Wash .; Christine (Greg) Hamlin of Santa Clarita, Calif .; Gordon (Michelle) Aeschliman of Hout Bay, South Africa; Sandy (Wayne) Adair of Kirkland, Wash .; 15 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren, and many friends and acquaintances.

A memorial service has been scheduled for Saturday, January 18, 2020, 11:00 a.m., at Onecho Bible Church.
