Timberwolves book split in league play

Tekoa/Rosalia Timberwolves booked a split this week in NE-South league play with a big loss to neighboring Liberty in the Friday round, and a solid win over Asotin in the Tuesday round.

Friday at Liberty the hosts posted a 77-50 win by building on a lead through the game. The Lancers posted a 31-24 lead at the break.

Jacob Holling hit 23 points to top the game. Anthony Gehring hit 16 for TR and Mitchell Billings hit 15.

Tuesday at Tekoa, the Timberwolves out-paced Asotin 67-52 with a strong second half. The two teams were tied at 32-32 at the half, but TR pulled away in the last two quarters and capped it with a 17-6 run in the final quarter.

Riley McLain went off the charts in the league game with 33 points, including five three-pointers. Other scorers for TR were Gehring 17, Keegan French 2, Kenneth Lenoir 9, Cole Peterson 2, Zach Saens 2 and Zane Neill 2.

Tekoa/Rosalia girls sustained two losses in the league rounds. Liberty Friday posted a 72-23 win on their home court with Maisie Burnham hitting 20, and Delaney Goodwin hitting 13.

Emily Kramer and Paige Brown each hit six for TR.

Tuesday at Tekoa, Asotin and TR tied at 8/8 after the first quarter, but the Panthers pulled away and booked a 54-41 win Kayla Paine hitting 29 points.

Scoring TR were Delani Lehn 7, Kramer 12, Meghan Billings 10, Elise Wilkins 6, Tori McLain 6.

The Timberwolves will travel to Reardan Friday for another league round.
