Colfax girls face tough LRS team in league clash

Colfax girls will face a challenge on the home court Friday when the LRS Broncos arrive with a 7-4 record posted after the weekend. Included in that mark is a 59-46 win Saturday over the Reardan team which fought off a Colfax comeback Friday for a 47-41 win at Colfax.

Colfax Tuesday came back to defeat Northwest Christian at Colbert 49-35 with Asher Cai again topping the score sheet with 16 points.

Friday against Reardan the guests rolled up an 11-4 edge over Colfax in the first quarter and put Colfax in a 10-point hole, 24-14 at the halftime break.

Colfax picked up a point in the third quarter and three more points in the last quarter, but it wasn't enough.

Colfax came within two points in the last quarter when Shyah Antoine hit a bucket to cut the Indians' lead to 39-41, but after that Reardan stacked six straight points with four of them coming off the toss line after Colfax fouled in an attempt to get possession of the ball.

Madelyn Dewey hit an under-and-back layup for the lone field goal in the run.

Cai, who hit two threebies when Colfax made the charge in the last quarter, led Bulldog scorers with 15 points.

Reardan's Kim Dewey finished with a game-high 19 points with four three-point hits.

Tuesday at Colbert, Colfax again had a slow start with the game tied at 20-20 at halftime. The Bulldogs opened a three-point edge after the third quarter, and then finished it with a 17-6 run in the last quarter.

Cai also had 10 rebounds for the Bulldogs.

The win bumped the Colfax record to 8-3 with LRS arriving for a league round.
