Cheez-It Bowl and Christmas cheer

Warren and Connie Horton attended the Cheez-It Bowl game in Arizona, between WSU and Air Force, on Dec. 27, 2019. They were accompanied by their daughter Debbie Hopkins of Boise and daughter Renee Horton of Seattle. They joined a family group for a pre-game brunch at the new home of Steve and Desiree Hamilton, Warren’s nephew, who have relocated from their former home in Portland. Also attending were Jayne Hamilton and family, Arizona; Dr. Dale Daniel, California and Darlene and Hannu Makela, Green Valley, Ariz. All are nieces and nephews of Warren Horton.

Homestead Ministries is holding a soup bagging event on Thursday, Jan. 16, at 5:30 p.m. at the Baptist Church in Colfax. Soup will be served to the volunteer baggers. All are welcome to come.

After a Christmas Eve service at Selbu Lutheran Church, Linda Hennigar departed for Kennewick to spend Tuesday night through Sunday with her daughter Tami’s family. They were dinner guests Saturday evening at the home of Kenny and Mae Banks and family. Son-in-law Jay’s oldest brother, Mark and Judi, were also visiting from Arizona. Linda Hiskey brought Hennigar home Sunday afternoon.

Christmas day guests of Dale and Vicki Broeckel and Kim Gustafson were Marv and Jo Carver, Newman Lake; Mike and Michelle Carver, Spokane; Tim Johnson, Dusty, and friends Alex and Jesse.

Guests of Kim and Cindy Pitts from Tuesday to Thursday of Christmas week were their children and grandchildren Amanda and Erik and sons Rafe and Tate, Spokane, and daughter Carrie from Yakima.

Art and Colene Sager celebrated Christmas on Sunday with their two sons and family and grandkids. Kyle and Ann Marie Sager came from Spokane and spent Saturday night. The others arrived on Sunday. They were Blake and Marcy Sager, Jullene and Kenneth, Colfax; Marcy’s father, Othelo Quilang, Colfax; Justin and Sarah Grendiniti, Spokane, and Hannah Manning, Salem, Ore.

Guests for Christmas dinner at the Dick Appel home were the Eric Appel family - Eric, Shannon and Sidney, Dusty; Connor, Richland; Christopher, Boise, Idaho; Sarah and Kyle, Pullman; Bruce Appel, Spokane; Lois Scholz, Colfax; Theodore Scholz, California; Steve and Dianne Appel, Dusty, and Dave and Alice Appel and Charlie, Colfax.

Guests staying at Dick Appel’s to participate in the annual pig butchering were Caroline, Elly and Luciene Kunkel, Pullman; Barb and Bruce Wollstein, Lacey; Beth and David Lohrmeyer, Kristin and Rebecca, Oak Harbor; and Joanne and Pat Corrigan, Quinn and Liam, Bellevue. Kate Wollstein and Drew, Moscow, came to help on work days.

Greg and Gwen Nolan hosted two Christmas celebrations. The first was on Sunday, Dec. 22. Those attending were Jason Nolan and Jeanette Nolan, Colfax; Andrew and Murphy Nolan, Spokane, and Karen Broeckel, Dusty.

The second celebration at the Nolan home was on Christmas day. Guests included Jeanette Nolan and Jason Nolan, Colfax; Pam Beasley, Waitsburg; Zach Beasley, Walla Walla; Austin Beasley, Moses Lake; Patty Wieber, Brett Wieber, Bobby and Jamie Halbig and son Max, all of Spokane, and Brian and Angela Broeckel and Karen Broeckel, Dusty.

Next Dusty B.B. Club meeting will be Wednesday, Feb. 12, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church hall in LaCrosse to make baby blankets for the free maternity clinic. Lunch will be at the LaCrosse Café. Roll call assignment is to bring an old wedding photo.
