Bulldog girls roll out big win at Asotin Friday

Colfax girls Friday took control of the action in the second quarter at Asotin and stacked a 70-28 win over the the Panthers. Colfax led by just a point after the first quarter, but added 20 points to their lead with a 25-5 second quarter.

Coach Corey Baerlocher credited the Bulldogs with keeping up the pressure for the whole game.

Baerlocher noted Colfax is now circulating 11 players through the rotation, and team members are working to make the best of their court time.

Asotin collected a lot of early points on foul shots, but after Colfax hit high gear, the lead grew. The Panthers finished with 13 of their 28 points coming off the toss line.

Scoring difference for the two middle quarters was 44-16 for Colfax.

Asher Cai led Colfax with 20 points. She hit nine buckets with two of them from the three-point range.

Sydney Berquist hit 15 for Colfax.

The win advances Colfax to 6-1 on the season with their lone loss to Pomeroy which is now rolling on a 6-0 record.

The Colfax mark for league action is 2-0.

Kayla Paine finished with 22 of Asotin’s 28 points. She collected 10 of her points at the free-throw line.

Thursday the Bulldog girls will make the first of two trips to the holiday tournament at West Valley. They will face Lakeland of Rathdrum Thursday at noon, take a break Friday, and then return to West Valley Saturday to play Colville at 5 p.m.

After the holiday trips, the Bulldogs will return to their home court Jan. 3 and play Reardan in the next league round.
