This young moose at the entrance to Steptoe Butte had a run in with a burdock plant. The "dewlap" or "bell" is the flap of skin that hangs under a moose's chin. The burdock burrs function as hooks to attach the seed pod or plant part to a moving host. Photo taken Nov. 5.
