Colfax, Oakesdale teams named to fall academics list

Colfax football team and boys cross country team have been named to receive the WIAA award for top scholastic honors for the fall sports season. Also, Oakesdale’s volleyball team won the academic award in the 1B division.

The Colfax boys cross country team had a grade average of 3.890, and the football team had a grade average of 3.710. Colfax football also topped the academic listing last year.

Oakesdale’s volleyball team had a grade average of 3.994 which ranked third among all the teams for all fall sports. They were topped only by the Ferris and Ingram cross country girls who both posted all-A grade averages.

Lind/Ritzville/Sprague has the top 2B grade average for volleyball teams at 3.920, and Odessa, which is coached by former LaCrosse coach Jeff Nelson, has the top 1B grade average for football at 3.553.

The fall grade awards are compiled from the grades posted by team members from the spring semester, according to Colfax Athletic Director Gina Hopkins.
