Pullman CC offers tree bulb entries

Pullman Chamber of Commerce seeks businesses to purchase and decorate ornaments for the tree in the lighting event at Pine Street Plaza. Businesses can pick up an eight-inch ornament to decorate for $20 from the Chamber.

They are asked to return the decorated ornaments by Nov. 20.

Limit is one ornament per business. Acrylic paint is recommended. The chamber will spray a sealant on the bulb prior to hanging.

The tree lighting will be Dec. 7 at 4:20 p.m.

‘Matilda’ opens tonight at RTOP

Regional Theatre Of the Palouse will present Roald Dahl’s “Matilda the Musical,” Nov. 7 through Nov. 17 at the RTOP Theatre, 122 N. Grand Ave., Pullman.

Matilda is a little girl with wit, intelligence and psychokinetic powers. She’s unloved by her cruel parents, but impresses her schoolteacher, Miss Honey. Both Matilda and Miss Honey see each other in a level of understanding, love and growth.

Matilda the Musical is directed by Michael Todd with musical direction by Lacy Sutter, choreography by Berit Preece and costume concept and design by Saskia Hoving. The musical is produced by John Rich.

General admission is $12 - $20 with a 10 percent savings on group sales of 10 or more tickets.

Other show dates are Nov. 8 at 7:30 p.m .; Nov. 9 at 1:30 and 7:30 p.m .; Nov. 10 at 1:30 and 7:30 p.m .; Nov. 13 at 7:30 p.m .; Nov. 14 at 7:30 p.m .; Nov. 15 at 7:30 p.m .; Nov. 16 at 1:30 and 7:30 p.m., and Nov. 17 at 1:30 and 7:30 p.m.

St. John teen night

St. John Library will host a teen night Sunday, Nov. 10, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Teens 13 and up are invited to hang out with friends when the library is closed. Movies will be available, as well as games and other activities. There will be snacks as well as “walking tacos.”

Athenaeum

Hosted by Kay VanDyke and Dana Carroll, Athenaeum Club met Nov. 1 at St. Patrick Church with 25 members present. The program, given by Carroll, was about artist Mary Cassatt.

Next meeting will be the Christmas luncheon Dec. 6 at the Methodist Church. Yearbook committee will host at 11:30 a.m.
