Police note Drone Safety Week

Pullman Police Chief Gary Jenkins issued a notice that the week of Nov. 4-10 will be National Drone Safety Awareness week. He noted aircraft between 8.8 ounces and 55 pounds must be registered with the Federal Aviation Administration.

Jenkins said drones cannot be operated within five miles of an airport without proper notification via Low Altitude Authorization and Capability. The entire city limits of Pullman is within five miles of the Pullman-Moscow Regional Airport.

Pullman Airport has allowed residents to email notices for flight plans with drones, Jenkins said.
