Mills, Marconi win at SE district race

Garfield/Palouse took both sides of the 1B District 9 race Friday at the Colfax Golf course. Led by winner Anais Mills, the Garfield/Palouse girls scored 15 team points with five finishers. They included Mills, at 20;17, Kennedy Cook, 2nd at 22:49: Samantha Snekvik, 5th at 23:31; Laynie Southern, 6th at 24:28, and Jessica Olson, 8th at 26:10.

The four finishers for St. John were Lauren Stubbs, 3rd at 23:14; Ellie Tollett, 4th at 23:23; Catherine Tries, 7th at 24:42, and Marianne Tries, 9th at 28;40.

Viking boys took the boys side with 21 points with SJEL in second place with 36.

SJEL Freshman Logan Marconi won the boys race at 19:29 on the flat Colfax course.

Finishers for GP were Ethan Cook, 2nd at 19:47; Danny Laghery, 4th at 2:16; Brandon Hallan, 5th at 21:19; Colby Dugger, 6th at 21:51; Austin Jones, 8th at 22:30, and Josh Appel, 10th at 23:25.

Other finishers for SJEL were Pedro Contraras, 7th at 22:06; Tucker Thompson, 9th at 23;05; Gabe Morgan, 13th at 29:08, and Ian Staves, 14th at 29:13.
