Choral Society to note 20th at St. Boniface

Palouse Choral Society will celebrate its 20th anniversary season with a concert of music selected by the five conductors who have directed the choir, according to Janice O’Toole, executive director.

The concert, “Thanks for the Memories,” will be at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Uniontown. Saturday, Oct. 26, at 6 p.m. and again Sunday, Oct. 27, at 4 p.m.

Each of the conductors who have led the chorale were asked to choose a few of their favorite pieces. Two of them, Chuck Nuefeld and John Weiss, will return to conduct the choir along with current director Paul Thompson and chorale member Alisa Toy.

The concerts will include a wide variety of repertoire, mainly from the 20th century, featuring both the chorale and chamber choir.

Tickets for the performances are $20 for adults and $8 for students. Children 12 and under are free. Season tickets, as well as blocks of four tickets for any one concert, are $60. Tickets may be purchased in advance: http://www.palousechoralsociety.org.

Girls who code

Neill Public Library will host a six-week course entitled “Girls Who Code” with Helen Catanese, a WSU grad student computer science as instructor. Sessions will be held on Tuesdays from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. starting Nov. 5, in the library’s Hecht Meeting Room.

This course is open to all third, fourth and fifth grade girls. No coding experience is required.

Bad Art Nightat Garfield Library

Tweens and teens are invited to the Garfield Library for Bad Art Night Friday, Oct. 25, at 6:30 p.m. Art creations will be made using strange and funky items along with glue and paints on a canvas. All supplies will be provided courtesy of the Friends of the Garfield Library.

Artwork will be displayed at the community trunk or treat event Thursday, Oct. 31, where the public can vote on their favorite piece. Winners will be announced that night and a special prize will be given to the overall winner.

Pullman arts panel to fill three chairs

Pullman Arts Commission is seeking three candidates to fill partial terms on the commission through 2021. Candidates with diverse experience in arts, business, marketing and event planning are encouraged to apply. They meet the second Tuesday of each month at 4 p.m. at Neill Public Library. Commissioners are active participants and regularly attend meetings.
