Memorial Services for Shirley Mae Cutler, 81, a long-time Acton and later, Palmdale, resident, will be held November 15, 2019, at 4 p.m. at VFW Post 3552, 39463 10th Street East, Palmdale, Calif., 93550.

Shirley passed away on October 9, 2019, at Palmdale Regional Hospital, in Palmdale, California. Born August 10, 1938, in Colfax, Wash., to the late Howard and Lola Cutler, Shirley was raised on the family farm in Endicott, Wash. She attended Endicott School (K-12). Shirley attended Eastern Washington University, Cheney, Wash., and graduated in 1960.

Shirley taught for 57 years, eight years in special education, and 49 years with the Acton-Agua Dulce Union School District, retiring in June 2017. Teaching kindergarten was her passion and she taught several generations of Acton, Agua Dulce families.

Shirley loved assisting with military veterans, as a life-time member of VFW Post 3552. Other pastimes included a genuine interest in engaging with anyone who crossed Shirley's path, as well as cheering on her beloved Los Angeles Dodgers and Rams. Shirley is survived by her three daughters, Katrina Farrell, Clinton, Wash.; Kris Armstrong, Vacaville, Calif.; and Kari Owens, Acton, Calif.; along with five loving grandchildren (Chad and Sean Armstrong, Emily and Michael Farrell, and Chris Owens).
