Bi-district cross country: Slate, Cocking place 2nd at Plante's Ferry

Kolby Slate and Anna Cocking of Colfax each placed second in a bi-district cross country race hosted by Valley Christian at the Plante’s Ferry Park in the Spokane Valley. Slate clocked 17:27 on the park course to finish 11 seconds back of winner Winston Telvord of Davenport.

Anna Cocking finished at 21:53 just 10 seconds behind winner Stephanie Chadduck of Valley Christian.

Catherine Treis of SJEL placed fourth at 22: 17, and Lauren Stubbs placed sixth at 22:57.

Ian Engledow of Asotin placed third in the boys race with a 17:42.

First results of the race did not post team scores, but Engledow was the first of four Asotin runners among the top 10 finishers.

The Gazette went to press before all finishers in the girls race were posted.

Other finishers for the Bulldog boys were Joshua Huber, 10th at 18:28; Dyamin Vanek, 11th at 18:51; Kolby Sisk, 15th at 19:00; Ryan Henning, 25th at 19:45; Tyler Bober, 28th at 19:51; Ryan Baljo, 35th at 20:20; Cole Baerlocher, 37th at 20:26; Jackson Perry, 40th at 20:43; Jacob Jones, 42nd at 21:24; Sam Kopp, 43rd at 21:29.

Tekoa/Rosalia finishers: Erik Lazcano, 14th at 18:59; Joey Murray, 27th at 19:49; Alex McHargue, 50th at 23:06; Austin Goyke, 51st at 23:33; Justin H., 52nd at 23:33; Michael Brooks, 58th at 30:12; Bruce Casey, 61st 34:06.

SJEL finishers: Logan Marconi, 44th at 21:30; Pedro Contreras, 47th at 22:19; Rory Maloney, 48th at 22:21; Tucker Thompson, 53rd at 24:24; Ian Staves, 59th at 30:25; Mason Pitts, 62nd at 37:31.
