Eagles volleyball undone by Touchet at home court

Fortunes turned low again for the St. John/Endicott/LaCrosse volleyball team with a home loss to Touchet Tuesday night, 22-25, 19-25, 26-24 and 19-25.

The loss dropped the Eagles to 3-6 overall, 0-4 league.

"Touchet didn't outplay us, we outplayed ourselves," said SJEL coach Jenn Johnson.

Touchet increased their record to 4-2 overall, 1-2 in league.

For statistics for St. John/Endicott/LaCrosse, Rachel Larson had two aces and 23 digs; Colby Swannack got 12 kills and four blocks and Roxy Dickerson had 24 assists.

"It basically comes down to details," said Johnson. "It was pretty quiet in the locker room tonight."

Ashlynn Archer did not play, after being injured in the nine-team Spikefest at Rosalia Sept. 21, at which the Eagles beat Tekoa/Rosalia and Kettle Falls and lost to Asotin and Colton.

Colton won the tournament.

St. John/Endicott/ LaCrosse was swept by Oakesdale Sept. 17.

SJEL will play again Friday in Spokane at the 64-team Linda Sheridan Tournament, opening against Sandpoint. The tournament continues Saturday.

"We have the capability and the talent, we just have to put it all out on the court during game time," Johnson said.
