My Favorite Recipes: September 19, 2019

Below is the corrected recipe from last week’s Gazette:

Recipe:

Texas sheet cake

Elinor Huber, adult entry winner

Cake:

2 cups sugar

2 cups flour

2 cubes butter

4 tsp cocoa

1 cup boiling water

Mix, then add:

1 tsp cinnamon

1 tsp vanilla

1 tsp baking soda

1/2 cup buttermilk

2 eggs

Mix and pour in a cookie sheet with sides (this is important because the batter is thin)—Bake at 350 degrees for 20 minutes.

Mix frosting while cake is baking and spread over hot cake as soon as it comes out of the oven.

Frosting:

1 cube butter

4 Tbsp cocoa

5 Tbsp water

Bring to boil, remove from heat, then add:
