The grand championship tournament of the northwestern division of the League of American Wheelmen was held Wednesday afternoon at Colfax trotting park, with about a thousand people in attendance.

A threatening sky and a raw west wind not only kept down the attendance but also precluded any record breaking or even any very fast time. The track, also, was heavy.

The city council put some of it threats of municipal expense chopping into execution at last Monday night’s regular session.
