Karol Chazell

Karol Kay Chazell, longtime Oakesdale resident, passed away suddenly on August 21, 2019, at her Oakesdale home. She was 77. A graveside service will be Friday, August 30th, at 1:00 pm in the Oakesdale Cemetery. Calling hours at Bruning Funeral Home will be Tuesday through Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and Friday morning until 11.

Karol was born September 15, 1941, in Thornton, Washington, to Clemence and Allene Waddell Easton. She grew up in Oakesdale with her younger brother Earl. Karol graduated from the Oakesdale High School in 1959. She became a mom at a fairly young age and raised four girls. She always kept a neat and tidy house and that love of housekeeping carried over into her work life. She lived in Las Vegas, Nevada, where she did housekeeping in a hospital and worked in central supply. She married Rick Chazell in Las Vegas on August 6, 1976. Moving back home to Oakesdale, Karol worked for many years in the housekeeping department at Whitman Health & Rehab and for a brief period, she worked at the Shriner's Hospital for Children in Spokane. Following the passing of her father in 2001, Karol became a full-time caregiver for her mom Allene until she passed away in 2008.

Karol loved working outside in her yard and raising flowers. Her favorite thing to do though was simply to sit at home in her comfortable chair with her favorite dog or two in her lap. Often, she could be found enjoying a bowl of chocolate/peanut butter ice cream or Puffcorn as a treat. Her dogs and cats were family to her; especially her Shih-Tzu's.

Karol is survived by her husband Rick at the family home; four children, Debbie (Alisha) Chazell, of Oakesdale, Rhonda Mitchell of Indiana, Darla (Randy) Lee of Valleyford, Wash., and Robin (David) Nelson of Oklahoma; seven grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren as well as by her brother, Earl (Diana ) Easton of The Dalles, Ore. She was preceded in death by her parents. On-line guest book is at http://www.bruningfuneralhome.com
