Burn ban in effect for Colton, Uniontown

Colton, Uniontown and the surrounding area has a burn ban in effect, issued by the Whitman County Fire District 14 on July 22.

The ban will have two exemptions including backyard fire pits and ag burning regulated by the Washington Department of Ecology. However, debris piles and ditch burns are not allowed.

The burn ban will continue until further notice. Every year, there is a burn ban in effect on the Snake River corridor from the Idaho state line to mile marker 8 on the Wawawai Grade from June 10 through Oct. 10....
