Empty gas tank alters birth plan

A Colfax ambulance crew was dispatched at 12:07 p.m. July 9 by a report of a pending birth of a baby on the Airport Road at mile one west of Colfax. The crew learned upon arrival at the scene that the couple had run out of gas on the way to the maternity room. They had reportedly been en-route to the Pullman hospital.

The mother was transported to Whitman Hospital and Medical Center, and the father taken to a station in Colfax to purchase fuel....
