VBS session averaged 40 kids per day

An average of 40 youngsters per day attended the Vacation Bible School Day Camp June 17 - 21 sponsored by The Community of Faith group which includes the Selbu Lutheran, United Methodist and St. Josephs Catholic churches.

Garrett Kane; Hayden and Hallie Mackleit; Mikayla, Morgan and Mercedes Martin; Willa and Scarlett McGregor; Brianna and Jacob Pierce; Cooper and Gracie Schwartz; Annalee Siebert; Kaia and Kendall Snell; Tinlee and Taylee Taylor; Anna Thompson; Emily Thompson; Cole Thornton; Brynlee, Chloe, and Jersie Waddell; Braelyn Wright, and Aliahna Zornacki.

Some of the kids were visiting grandparents from outside of LaCrosse and from as far away as Idaho, California and Georgia.

They made many take-home crafts including picture frames with their own picture, fleece pillows, music makers and miniature solar ovens to cook their own s’mores.

Wednesday, they participated in the library program at the park where they shot off Stomp Rockets; one of which they got to take home as well.

A barbecue potluck picnic for families was in the town park Wednesday evening where families listened to kids sing the Bible songs learned at camp. Great fun was had by all.

The camp was led by Colin Dygert, Emily Hahn, Hannah Moss and Kirsten Fogel, all staff members from the Lutherhaven Ministries based in Coeur d’Alene. Assisting were local Pastor David Wells of the United Methodist church; Pastor John Cross from the Selbu Lutheran church; Rene’ Hinderer, Camp Coordinator; Julie Roberts, Food Manager; Amber Brink, Pre-School leader; Mike Stine, Vince Stolmeir, Hope Moreland, Patty Nealey, Joan Myrick, Di Brink, Jeff and January Pietila, Cindy Wigen, Linda Henniger, Danielle Dorman, Francine Stanley and Alice Mackleit.

On the last day of camp, they created banners for a float on which youth rode through the Farmers Festival parade. The floats were judged by an independent group of judges from out of the area. The float won first place and was awarded $75 dollars from Startin’s Repair. The prize money was applied to the V.B.S. program costs. The float was pulled by a 1948 model M, IH tractor owned and operated by Vince Stolmeir of Endicott.
