Oakesdale Masonic Lodge no. 55 gave awards to four students at the end of the school year for its annual reading program spanning Tekoa, Oakesdale and Garfield. The students each won a new bike and helmet for reading books in school. Students in first grade through sixth grade participated, with their name entered in a box each time they finished a book. At the end of the school year, a drawing is held to pick the four winners.

On June 5, the kids were taken to Walmart in Moscow to pick out a new bike and helmet.

"This program encourages students to read more and improve their reading skills," said Hollis Jamison, lodge member.
