Patriots split with Mt. Spokane, book 4-1 at Tri-Cities slugfest

Pullman Patriots returned to league play Tuesday with a split against Mt. Spokane at McDonald Park in Colfax. The guests nipped the Pats 5-4 in the opener, but the locals took a 3-0 shutout in the second game.

The two games at Colfax followed a 4-1 run by the Patriots at the Tri-Cities Slugfest over the weekend.

Reece Chadwick of Colton struck out seven Tuesday on the way to the complete game 3-0 shutout of Mt. Spokane. He allowed just two hits.

The Pats scored one run in the first frame and two more in the seventh.

In the first game, Mt. Spokane scored twice in the second inning, and the Patriots played catchup ball for the balance of the game. The guests had eight hits for the win, and Pullman had six hits with Mitch LaVelle tagging three of them.

The Patriots Legion team stacked the 4-1 mark in a three-team Tri-Cities Slugfest over the weekend. They rolled out a 2-1 mark in three games Sunday at Hanford’s Legacy Park. They defeated the KWSL Roosters 6-4 and then split with the Pasco Fury with a 6-7 loss and then a 9-1 win in the final game.

Carson Coulter threw a two-hitter for the Pats in the 9-1 finale, and Patriots laced 12 hits.

Peyton Kallaher and Peter Smith pitched the first game, and Kelan Becker and Jason Horner pitched the second game.

Kallaher rapped a key two-run homer in the first game, and Konner Kincaid had six hits with a triple for the series.

Saturday, the Pats topped Pasco 6-3 in the opener, and defeated the Roosters 12-7 in the second game with a 16-hit attack. Cameron Vis and Smith pitched in the first game, and Nate Akesson, Brady Lees and Connor Green pitched in the second game

Now 8-4 overall, the Patriots will play in the Palouse Summer Series Thursday through Sunday with some of the games booked a McDonald Field in Colfax.

The Pats will play at noon today, Thursday, against the CB River Dogs on the WSU field. Friday, they will be at McDonald vs. the Washington Wave at 10 a.m and at Pullman High to play Kalispell at 3 p.m. Saturday they play Rock Creek at 4 p.m. at PHS.

McDonald is booked with host three games today starting at 3 p.m. and four games Friday beginning at 10 a.m. with the Pats.

Four more games are booked at McDondal Saturday starting at 11 a.m.

Three playoff games will end the series Sunday on the WSU field.
